Advisor Guidelines

All advisor sessions will be done online.

These advisor connections may be used for simple introductions, networking, developing or discussing high-level ideas, or possibly even establishing future Advisor / Mentor relationships or professional engagements.

Sessions set up through FoundersList are offered for free.

However, certain situations may warrant longer-term engagements either as mentors, advisors or possibly for professional services. In such cases we leave it to the individual parties to come up with suitable compensation and engagement agreements. Founders should not expect advisors/professionals to give away all of their time & services for free.

If you, as a startup founder, connect with a designer for a advisor session, the designer may give you some high-level advice on optimizing your landing page, website design, etc, but do not expect the Designer to redesign your site for free.

Similarly, if you connect with a lawyer for a session, that lawyer may give you some high-level pointers and notes, or introduce you to specialist lawyers, but you must not expect them to give you professional advice (like reviewing your docs!) for free.

General

• Firstly, we ask that all users treat each other with courtesy and respect;
• By signing up as an Advisor, you are volunteering some limited, specified time (at your discretion) to connect with founders or early stage entrepreneurs;
• The FoundersList Advisors network is being offered for free;
• Please respect private, sensitive, and confidential information shared during advisor sessions;
• An "expert" is defined as an individual with background, skills and expertise, who is willing to help others develop some skill/s as a founder/entrepreneur;
• Experts may also provide guidance, advice, introductions or other assistance as deemed fit;
• As a user of the Advisor network, you understand that Experts and Advisors are offering these sessions for free — please be respectful and do not expect experts or professionals to offer all of their time and/or services for free;
• Experts will not ask for payment for Advisor sessions set up through FoundersList; However, connected parties are free to agree to some form of long-term professional or Advisor engagement should that suit them or be required;
• Experts may mention their businesses/services, however, they should not attempt to forcibly sell their products, services or business, nor monopolise Advisor sessions to promote and sell their business;
• The objective of the FoundersList Advisor network is to connect individuals, experts, professionals and entrepreneurs;
• When setting up Advisor sessions, please be respectful of everyone's time and schedules by being punctual, and notifying other parties of any changes at least 2 (two) hours ahead of scheduled meetings;
