Find a Cofounder at FoundersList

Posted by Philip Camilleri on February 4, 2020. Last updated 4 years ago.

Finding a startup cofounder is always a slog. You might have the best idea, and a fantastic execution plan. But convincing someone to join your startup, believe in your idea, and probably work for nothing (other than equity) is the first major obstacle you face when building out your company. Worse than that: you actually need to find and meet the right cofounder candidates.

Looking for a cofounder for your startup or new idea? Add your listing here.

Back in 2010 or so, there was an incredibly simple yet useful site called TechCoFounder.com — in fact, that's where I myself was lucky enough to meet my cofounder for my first startup, SmartAsset. That site (unfortunately for us users) was acquired and grew into something rather large and unwieldy. And as I gradually phased out my own role at SmartAsset, and begun looking around for other potential cofounders, I realized the tools online were really dreadful.

There's probably a dozen or so different "cofounder" sites available today — but after trying at least half of them, I began to realize how un-"user-friendly" they were. Some are extremely old (and poorly maintained); some just don't work; and some have so much spam-content, it's impossible to know where to begin.

So with that in mind, I set about building FoundersList — the basic idea being a simple, easy-to-use site for founders. For the time being, the site consists of 4 main sections:

  • events (a list of hopefully useful and startup-related events);
  • cofounders (a free to use place to post cofounder opportunities);
  • a blog section (which will gradually contain more content),
  • and the homepage, with a news-feed (for posting articles or links to startup-related)

The site is still in development — it's somewhat of a passion project for me, and I hope to be able to expand on it's utility without distracting from its basic purpose.

With that in mind, I hope you find FoundersList useful. Please feel free to share it with anyone, and reach out to me (by email, twitter, etc) if you have any comments or suggestions.
